Allison, a young adult who gets caught up in the affairs of gang crime introduces the audience to the story by narrating her guilt. ‘Stolen Freedom’ begins with a dark scene in a corridor where Allison, dressed in black, opens a door to an unknown basement. The change of angle from her back to a front medium shot reveals her injured face as the soundtrack starts playing.
Allison begins narrating her regrets in voice-over while she grabs different items and puts them in a bag, one of them being a picture of her and her old friend Caroline. She begins to walk down the corridor towards the exit building up tension as she carries the suspicious bag.
When she gets out of the mysterious basement Allison shows her remorse about what she has done to her close friends/family, she doesn't want to look suspicious even though she does. She walks down a parking lot. Before getting out of the parking lot, Allison shows grief and remorse.
Allison is now on the street. Allison looks and is very nervous while making her way to the metro she bumps into a person, that person drops their books and Allison helps them and apologizes.
Allison enters the metro, she jumps the security and goes down to the trains. Allison misses a train so very worried because she feels that she is being followed, she goes to another line. When Allison gets to the other line she enters the train and leaves the scene by saying ‘’Start a new story’’.
All through the opening scene, Allison will be giving details about why she is running away.
